This website is ‘All for Alice’ so we think we’d best begin by telling you a little bit about her.
Alice was our first pregnancy, we (Claire and Stu) were so excited. The pregnancy was fine, Claire was healthy and so was our baby. She was such a little wriggler, she loved being read stories and loved a bowl of cornflakes every morning! We safely got to our due date, and maybe rather naively, thought all was ok as we had got to this stage. Our Godchildren had come to visit that day and as they were playing she was kicking away, desperate to be joining in the fun with them. The next morning she was very quiet. This was not like the wriggly baby we knew, we rang the hospital straight away but again with it being our first pregnancy didn’t worry too much, we thought it meant baby was getting ready to arrive. A few hours later we were told ‘I’m sorry, there’s no heartbeat’.
There are not enough words to describe the heartbreak we felt and will continue to feel at that small sentence.
Claire gave birth to a beautiful little girl, Alice Pamela, on 25th November 2019, 8.21pm, weighing 7lbs 6oz. There was nothing wrong with our angel, she is perfect and so loved.
Stillbirth, and any form of child loss, is a very lonely place and we have been very lucky to have such good support from friends and family. In particular, Laura and Nic, and it is through their support that the ‘All for Alice Fundraising Challenges’ came about to raise money for ‘Friends of Serenity’. This charity is an amazing one and helps hospitals to provide facilities, support and memory boxes for bereaved families. The help, support and advice we have received and continue to have access to from ‘Friends of Serenity’ is a lifeline for us.
All those who have taken part in Laura and Nic’s physical challenges before have not been not let off easily! Our little girl has inspired so many people to take part and donate that we hope we can raise even more money this year.
This year Alice is turning 5 on 25th November, so to celebrate her memory and try to continue to help raise funds for Friends of Serenity we have set up #Aliceis5challenge this involves taking part in 5 marathons throughout October so we can announce the grand total raised on Alice’s 5th Birthday.
However you want to do your 5 marathons or 131 miles is completely up to you, run or walk 5 marathons, 10 half marathons or 4.2 miles a day, or any other way you can think of!
To sign up, follow the link at the top of this page, fill in your details and pay your £25 registration fee (all of which goes to Friends of Serenity) to the All for Alice JustGiving page (a link to this can also be found on the sign up page or at the bottom of this home page). Then get your sponsorships in! Sponsors can visit Alice’s JustGiving page or you can use a sponsorship form also found at the bottom of this page.
We want to finish by saying a huge thank you to Laura and Nic for setting this up and for all they continue to do for us and for Alice. Thank you to all those who have taken part over the last five years and for all your amazing fundraising and thank you to all those who have committed to the #Aliceis5challenge already. We can’t wait to try and add to the amazing total of over £18,322 that we have already raised for Friends of Serenity. So, if you haven’t yet, get signed up! We cannot believe where 5 years have gone and really hope we can celebrate Alice and raise vital funds for this amazing charity.
Thank you and good luck!
This is ‘All for Alice’, our angel, we love you so much sweetheart. Mummy and Daddy xxx
